Cognia- A caregiver powered Early dementia care app

Problem Statement:
Early-stage dementia often goes unnoticed, leaving caregivers and families without proactive tools to support loved ones. Cognia was designed as a digital companion that not only helps identify early signs but also empowers caregivers with monitoring tools, cognitive exercises, and accessible resources to better support daily care.
Research & Insights
Research showed a growing number of early-stage dementia patients receiving delayed diagnoses and minimal post-diagnostic support. Caregivers often face emotional strain, poor access to resources, and little guidance, highlighting a major gap in early intervention and caregiver assistance that Cognia aims to address.

Planning & iteration
I mapped patient and caregiver journeys to uncover key pain points. Early sketches and wireframes explored solutions for engaging exercises and clear monitoring. Iterative testing refined the flow and dashboards, making the app intuitive, supportive, and empowering for both users.

Design Execution
Mobile (Patient): I crafted an intuitive, gamified interface to guide patients through daily exercises while boosting engagement.
Desktop (Caregiver): I designed caregiver screens for easy monitoring, game creation, and progress tracking. The focus on clear hierarchy, interactive elements, and feedback loops ensured both adoption and sustained use.

Cognia reframes dementia support from a clinical challenge to a shared experience.
Impact
Cognia was recognized as a Dyson Design Awards submission, validating its innovation. Caregiver feedback confirmed its potential impact and strong demand, reinforcing the power of user-centered design to support both patients and caregivers.
